Groton, A Unique Blend

Groton combines the expansive resources of larger schools with the close-knit feel of an extended family. We know each other well. Students and teachers from a wide array of backgrounds, interests, and considerable talents share a common commitment of one to another and of each to the whole. You cannot help but learn about yourself and the wider world through friendships built at Groton School.

Dean of Admission, Ian Gracey

I hope you find this website helpful as you get to know Groton School and our admission process. A favorite character of mine, Kermit the Frog, once sang, "It's not easy being green." Similarly, Can I say, "It's not easy being Dean"? Well, March is tough because we cannot offer admission to every qualified applicant. But, I can't imagine a better place to be Dean of Admission. We have a great school full of interesting, generous people and a mandate to not consider family finances in the admission process.
I write emails regularly to people who have inquired about admission to Groton. I cover a variety of topics, everything from practical details about the application process to big ideas about the importance of independent school education in the United States. These correspondences are also recorded here in what is, essentially, a blog. I wish you well as you take on the big task of learning about schools, especially Groton!
